His long career included training World Women&#8217;s\u00a0Champion Nona Gaprindashvilly and editing the Latvian Chess Magazine since 1963.<\/p>\n<p>I was lucky enough to meet him in Biel, Switzerland in 1996. We played and had dinner twice during the course of the tournament.
